Arizona is one of the few places that doesn't have Daylight Savings time - except on a part of the Hopi Reservation (try being in Tuba City sometime, where the time changes when you cross the street - in the same small town!)
Tucson doesnt' get MUCH snow, Phoenix even less. San Diego is about 6 hours away, Rocky Point in Mexico is even less (its on the Gulf of Calif). There are some local lakes(reservoirs).

(oh crap - did I just invite another transplate to Arizona!!! - Derek and those in Phx don't hate me. Course he won't come to Flagstaff as we have lots of snow - sometimes!)
