Well, well... Local find at my supermarket. Amidst the rows of cheap formaldehyde beers, along the pineapple, bananas and other atrocity flavored beers, there was this beer Zywiec from... Poland! First time I ever saw it around here... I had to clean the shelves! Anyone knows something about this beer? (obviously, you now know that I have never been to Poland... one day!)

Good find. We have it here in Ontario on the liquor store shelves in bottles. (we have BEER stores for beer only and liquor stores for everything else including specialty imports) I have not dipped into my heritage lately and tried one but I am sure you will like it. I do notice after looking at the respective labels yours is .1% higher alcohol must be some can fermentation on the long boat ride.

Thanks for that link! The beer offerings are kinda limited around here, so it's nice to see that one come up on the shelves! Also nice to read "It is still brewed by means of traditional methods using all-natural ingredients and mountain spring water." Hopefully they didn't add too many chemicals to that! We are in a huge food awareness campaign over here... basically, we are not eating what's on the label! We knew that, but we usually push it away in our minds... now, they are bombarding us with all the crap! Over here, in the spotlight the last few weeks: most olive oil bottles are just corn oil with olive scent added, spinach green pasta that has a lot more coloring than spinach, the list of milk additives, and so on... O, I am drinking mountain spring water in a can tonight, and feeling "healthy"!

Some olive oil here was found to be cut with GMO crap like corn or canola oil. It pays to know your product.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Yep. Read the labels and look for the "No GMO" label. Since manufacturers are not yet required to label GMO products, I'll support those who intentionally avoid GMOs.

Sipping on one. Finally picked one up at the liquor store as the beer store does not carry it. Not that I haven't been in the liquor store since this thread started, oh no, just not come face to face with it.

No Polish beer here. What I have instead is a bass ale made in Baldwinsville New York. What? Read all about it

Well I see you are not the only one that is not in favour of the NY brewed Bass. (as opposed to the steamed bass with fresh thyme I had last weekend, loved it)

Yeah well, I suppose SOME guys like that pale ale stuff, but give ME a nice dark ale, such as Colorado's own New Belgium Brewery's "1554".
(...now THAT'S a beer!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

A pint of Boddingtons Bitter. The brewery is at Strangeways in Manchester, UK. I'm from Levenshulme, Manchester but not Strangeways. There is a maximum security prison in Strangeways too.

Is the beer made in the prison? Might make the inmates a little mellower! We get Boddingtons here, but only the cream ale. I like the pale stuff for summer, and move on to the darker stuff for winter. Drinking a dark beer when it's 35C and 98% humidity is just too harsh!

So if you started your day here I guess it would have been a double black stout because its -27C (-2 F){Frozen Graemlin}

Yup, definitely a little chilly this morning. But on the bright side it is supposed to go up to 2 C on Friday. Is in any wonder Canadians like to complain about the weather.

-27C! I hope I never have to experience that again. I'd be a happy man living the rest of my life above 0 (40F). Now, I think 15C is cold... I lost my thick skin and don't want it back! Oh, and we brew our own beer here as well... in small quantities. A few of us import hops and we get together to taste the results. Not perfect but always enjoyable every time!
