Did that a couple of years ago. Pretty cool place. Plenty of strange shops and the weekend bars are hopping. Weirdest thing I saw; a bum crawling out of the dumpster every morning just outside my hotel.

Spent a week touring the Keys in 2011.... Key West is a lovely place but it felt like we were riding through a swarm of locust - there were hundreds of college kids ridding scooters everywhere. Worth the trip just to ride the Seven Mile Bridge alone. Make sure you visit Hemingway's House....we were lucky and even got parked up right outside.

Since that's one of the required stops, you might want to think about doing the 4 corners tour .

Oh, is that why I saw so many leather chaps and no motorcycles when Jane and I were there 33 years ago.

Yup, lot's of that going on in KW but it's a beautiful area and I wouldn't " didn't" let it stop me from visiting. A place everyone should see, at least one time.

Thing to do in Key West is turn around...
...and head back. South of Homestead, the ride is certainly scenic, especially if turquoise, green, and blue water is pleasing to the eye.

Somebody asked me to go to fantasy fest. I was thinking what an annoyance to go down there and be every girls fantasy.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Say you want to see Key West and visit the fourth corner for the day then turned around and headed back up the causeway which key would you pick to camp out on for a couple or three days?
I hope not Key Largo I'd be looking over my shoulder for Robert Mitchum the whole time there.

Sorry Paul, but I can't quite place your "Mitchum" reference here. It can't be "Cape Fear" because that's in North Carolina, and it can't be "Night of the Hunter" as that one's location is supposed to be in Ohio. Please explain. (...you have to know this would peak the interest of an old movie buff such as myself, don't ya?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

You are right I am getting Key Largo (Bogie, Robinson and Bacal) mixed up with Cape Fear (Peck, Mitchum and others) So are you saying Key Largo is a good place to stop

Well, in THAT case, ONLY I suppose if you wouldn't mind keepin' an eye out for Eddie G. Robinson behind your back THERE instead of Mitchum!!!

Personally I like Marathon. Very quiet, but still a few mainstream hotels. Lots of beach hotels, many of which are actually individual or small blocks of villas. Be prepared though....the majority of the Keys go for the 'shabby chic' feel, but only achieve the shabby half, and feel a little run down.

When with Phil, BonnieUsa years back. We had a great time pub crawling. Rode down in 80 degree weather but when we came back to Fort Lauderdale it was 45. I had to stop and buy a jacket. The major hotels have a shuttle to take you to the dock/entertainment area.
