Hey guys and gals. Two yrs ago my stock CDI went out and I opted to go with a Procom instead of a OEM unit. Not sure if that was a good idea or not. Anyway, I'm a year round rider and since installing the Procom per instructions my 06 America is really cold blooded now and hard to start when the temps are below 40. Has anyone had the same problem and eliminated it by switching the dial to another number other than what came with the instructions?

'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

Yep they are a bit cold natured, not sure what your setting on but yes bump it up a setting at a time at see how she reacts.
I went from 4 to 6, still a bit cold natured but it fires right up. Just a longer than I would like warm up.

You can tune most of it out with the program they send on that disk, it just takes a while to get it right. Test rides take time, you know

I had to replace my CDI a few years ago and got the Procom. My only complaint is that it is cold blooded. Just got to be patient and let the bike warm up for about five minutes or so before taking off when the temps are cooler. You might even feel like you need to leave the choke on (if you have carbs) a bit longer than usual.

I would suggest doing the regulator/rectifier mod. if you have not already. It seems like the procom is sensitive to low voltage, it works but not as well.
If you are going to make program changes (which is really easy on these)try retarding the timing at low rpm, that should make it easier to start.
and are you using the TPS?

since you can program the procom against TPS. It might be a good idea to set the TPS to factory spec before messing with other settings. Adjusting the Procom timing vs TPS may be a way to impove starting, but the TPS needs to be in the right place first. Just a suggestion as you can adjust timing vs rpm as well. or both, or neither, or try some of the pre made tunes.

I changed the setting on the Procom from 5 to 6 and it seems to have taken care of the hard starting problem. Starts much better now, still a little cold blooded, but I can live with that by letting her warm up a bit before driving.
