I'll let Whitt chime in... He was the calendar guy, so, I don't want to step on any toes here.
But if you he doesn't feel like it, I could give it a shot.
I'd use Apple's own calendar system. I know the print quality is amazing (well, it also depends on the original shot!) as I have already had Apple send a hard cover photo album to my mom and it looked really good.
