I was just sitting here thinking about the time of year and a couple crashes. I have to wonder if leaves had anything to do with yours. Leaves on the road are as bad as road marking paint or metal surfaces in the damp conditions.

I'm new here but it doesn't stop me wishing you the best and very glad to see you come out of it.

It's a fine advert for ATTGAT and full face helmets and the reason I binned my open face many years ago.

No leaves, man. I'm gonna go ahead and own this accident, it was operator error, it could have been avoided, I made a mistake, and I got bit. What I don't understand is how I came off my line through the turn to begin with. I could have just ridden it out crossing the centerline, but I was pretty insistent on staying in my lane. That ended up costing me.

It takes a man to admit his mistakes. And by admitting it, you might help somebody else pause to think about the riding. But it brings to mind why I only wear a half helmet, unlike yourself, I don't have any good looks to lose!

I probably would have used the whole road if there hadn't been another blind right turn right after the left turn I ate it on. But there was always the possibility of a car coming from the other direction. I'll have to go back to the scene of the crime and take a pic. Or maybe I'll send Chris

Nobody's perfect...hell, I know I'm not. I've come off a corner wrong on a country road run and thought "damn, I got lucky on that one." Problem is luck runs out sometimes that's where the right helmet and gear come in.

Glad you weren't seriously hurt. Don't worry about the bike they're building new ones every day, but there's only one you.

I would be more impressed if he could do those stunts on a sm or america (or any cruiser).
I did like the back flip dismount though. I am picturing Dave doing something similar!

I waited too long to look at this thread. Im glad your ok Dave. Thank God for full face helmets, makes me cringe to think what would have happened to your face. The gear is SOOO worthwhile to wear.

Been gone a few days in SoCal and just now spotted this sad news of yours here, Dave. Sorry to hear it, but I know you'll have that beautiful bike of yours in first rate shape again soon. And of course, I'm glad to hear your injuries are minor, thanks to your having the good sense to wear the proper gear for motorcycling.

(...and as compared to wearing an outfit that would be more appropriate for raiding the Spanish Main back in the 17th Century and YEARS before the invention of motorcycles and asphalt!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yikes! I leave the forum and look what happens! Man Dave, glad you're ok. Smart , smart, smart for wearing your gear. Your body can recover from a lot of trauma but head injuries can be a game changer. I look fwd to seeing how your bike will be re born. Good luck.

I am already a member of that club! Oct. 21 same situation. Car in front slowed for a deer. I was coming back from the dealer who had just replaced my rear brake pads. Left leaning turn. Good news is bike damage is minor and I get it back tomorrow. Bad news, it takes a long time for old guys(67) to recover from torn left rotator cuff. Gonna be a long winter in southside Va.

Old97 ya really are New04. But whose counting?

Jeez, LW, it was 25 degrees this morning in Woodbridge. Let's hope old man winter see both you and your ride sorted by Spring! (get well soon)

And Dave, aren't recovery time and age directly related?

Crashed on 57 between Semora and Milton. Picked up the bike today and brought it home to store until the shoulder issue is resolved.
