This would be a great addition to my stable. I wonder if I get could by with it if I told my wife - "Oh that, I've always had that BMW" http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/fascination/nineT/main.html

I've been looking and drooling at that scooter from front to back, top to bottom and side to side for a couple of days now. I can honestly say the only wart on it is the mirror design. There is no need for that silly bend in the stalk. The upside to that is yet another positive - I'd replace immediately with bar ends anyway. I'd been contemplating the new Honda Std., but this beemer is the trifecta-Semi nostalgic, sorta naked, and kinda café. I'm likin' it. I'm likin' it a bunch.

As an ex-airhead owner that BM is boring to look at. Looks nothing like the concept drawing.

I too have seen and like the new Honda standard CB1100. I wish I would have kept my 2000 Honda Nighthawk which basically was a CB750.
'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

I like this bike!! Good job BMW!
...let's see: Air/oil cooled 1,170cc engine 110 hp at 7,550 rpm 88 lb/ft at 6,000 rpm 6-speed transmission 52 mpg at a constant 56 mph So it requires premium fuel...I wouldn't mind one bit.
Are you listening Triumph? Open up the Bonneville parallel twin now! Stats like these would be great for the Thruxton and this size engine could be re-tuned for stronger low RPM torque at the expense of some upper RPM horsepower.

Here's a video put up by one of the guys on the TBird site to include BMW designers and some other m/c heavyweights: BMW NineT

Stopped by the local BMW shop and asked about the R nine T, he said they should arrive Jan or Feb 2014. He had just returned from their dealer meeting and showed some info on this concept. This BMW dealer is pretty cool, they sell only BMW but they have a classic Triton on display in the showroom.

That CB 1100 has 90 HP and the same torque. Turning that over with the extra cylinders they may be evenly matched.
I like the Honda a lot better. Too aggressive on the BMW. Looks tough but the real sport bikes will eat it up.

Not sure how 20 less horsepower makes the Honda "evenly matched." But I understand you like the Honda better. Neither of those bikes are trying to be all-out sport bikes but their existence means the Thruxton/Bonneville could use more power.
