A 250 thumper and a 250 twin? Seems odd.

Triumph To Build 250cc Twin In India

Apparently it's only a single Jim. It's the one I forgot to mention in my thread a few weeks back when I announced the air-cooled 1200cc. "deep throat" mentioned it to me but it didn't register on my radar. I was too excited about the 1200.
I've also seen believable spy pics of it.
I know ... I'm slipping.

250, i think that would be a great little bike and something fun to mess with.

I don't know what all the motorcycle manufacturers see in the India market. Is it really worth building a plant and designing an all-new model for an entry level 250cc (very low profit margin) albeit possibly high volume market?

I guess triumph has done their market research in India and know what will sell there but that bike looks like a shrunken Speed Triple...maybe they will call it the Slow Single. I assume the point of a little 250cc motorcycle would be maximum economy. No displacement penalty (in regions that have such things) maximum fuel economy, low initial purchase price, easy maintenance and high durability. To that end I would say a 250cc air cooled rugged bike like a small Scrambler would be a better plan.

From what I now understand, they will be manufactured in the Thailand plant and only assembled in India. Their primary target market is the Asian market and with this in mind, it makes total sense.
