Those Gurkha must be pretty tough. Just saw another on Military.com where one of them fought off 30 Taliban by himself. After he exhausted his weapon, a .50cal and a Claymore he finished the rest off with a bit of steel and a sand bag.

Fantastic! Was refreshing to read about those brave guys. Thanks for the post. Now compare these guys to the Hollywood elite class dimwits on the ad columns to the right.

For some reason we are afraid of the Taliban. These guys are beating them and stabbing them and the Taliban can't shoot them.

I am not so sure the Taliban are so tough. A guy with a knife beats two guys with AKs.

I haven't read this link yet but the bravery and dedication of the Gurkha in the British Army is legendary.
The villages in Nepal where they come from have hundreds of applicants for a few positions.
Too bad their dedication and commitment isn't reciprocated by their new 'employers'. We won't get political though, eh?

Gurkha's are a fighting force that should be honored and respected as they have served well in Her Majesty's Armed Forces.

I remember as a kid being at a military parade in Scotland. It's called the "Edinburgh Tattoo" and it's held yearly.
Thisyear it was raining ,cats and dogs, buckets, and sheets of rain.
The Tattoo went ahead but all the personnel were in rain gear, taking away from the spectacle.
The Gurkhas were marchng and marched in full dress uniform saying that if the people who had come to see them were prepared to sit in the rain to watch them the least they could do was to perform to the full for them.
I could imagine cleaning their kit afterwards would have taken days.Wonderful, and the Gurkhas marching took that decision themselves they weren't ordered to.Don't mess with the Gurkhas.

A Gurkha tale I heard was that in WW2 a battalion was told they were being trained as airborne and would be jumping out of planes at 300ft? .
After a few days some of their NCOs came and asked if the planes could fly a little lower to lessen the chance of injuries on landing.
No one had explained they'd be using parachutes

I heard a similar tale about a USMC unit comprised mostly of WV and Kentucky hillbilys. I don't think they EVER ask3d to lower the altitude though

So are the odds high these stories are real? Knife fights in gun battles usually end differently. Have not heard of hand to hand with the US troops on guard duty.

Kinda like the Taliban hearing on the other side of the hill "One Marine is worth 12 Taliban" The Taliban commander sends 20 of his best over the hill. All you hear is yelling and screaming. One bloody Taliban comes crawling back saying "Its a trick, there are two of them."

Maybe the UsNavy Seals that got routed in Somalia a few days ago should have relied more on there Kbars then the firearms? The outcome could have been completely turned around!

Heard that one using 2 Welsh against a horde of Englishmen.
I don't know the truth about the parachute tale.As we know a lot of these tales can be modified to fit anyone as required

But the Gurkhas are world famous as 100% the real deal.
