This was kicked around awhile back and I believe the consensus was, you got a slightly different note from the exhaust and lost a bit of power. I tried it too, and went from a total block off to tacking a flat washer in the crossover with about a 30% restriction. I suggest you just plug the tube and see if it works for you before you commit and remove it entirely.
