This Friday my father passed somewhat unexpectedly. He had Alzheimer's disease, and sudden complications from diabetes. We are all still grieving, distraught, and overwhelmed. I am the executor of my dad's will, and also handling all of the arrangements for mom and the funeral and such. I have been doing research to make sure I don't miss anything that our wonderful gov't can punish us for in the future, and I ran across something I thought all here would find interesting.

I was looking at what I need to do with his Social Security money/payments and such and found this thread posted by Friarjohn. http://ask.metafilter.com/62136/Does-SSA-reclaim-benefits-when-someone-dies

He asked the same question I was going to ask. Just found it to be a strange coincidence and it made me smile for some reason.

Clay, my condolences for your family. Very odd indeed to see John's name continue to pop up on the internet.

My condolences on the passing of your father also here, Clay.

And yeah, what a coincidence indeed to happen upon John's post there.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

My condolences for the loss of your father.
I never know what to say when these things come about.
My wife's dad passed not long ago and it still seems surreal.

I did a ride last week end , a memorial run for all the lost loved ones. Big turn out lots of pictures and memories shared.

I hope some peace and comfort to you and you family. Sending out prayers and positive thoughts for you guys.

Sorry for going all weird on ya .

This is the second time I've read this today and I just don't know what to say that would help. I'm very sorry and you and your family. Everytime I see one of these post it saddens me and make really think about life. This October will be 3 years since my dad passed and my mother-in law just passed 3 months ago. Sorry for rambling, my deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers.

My condolences for your loss. My father is now in a nursing home and has early dementia, which basically for him means that he gets really outlandish ideas about what is happening around him. He is really unhappy with his life now. These "old age mental diseases" are the hardest thing to endure by both the afflicted loved one and their family. It's hard to admit, but sometimes their passing is a small blessing.

My mom past away last tue. night. She too had Alzheimer's so I understand all the emotions you are going through. The legal matters that come up do not help the stressful situation. You and your family are in my prayers.

Sorry for you loss. Words don't mean much at a time like this but knowing others care can help a little.
