I haven't had an Apple system in years but back in the performa days I really liked the OS and was very user friendly but I couldn't run most of the programs I wanted to. About 10 years ago I was in the market for a new deskt6op and wanted a MAC but when comparing the MAC was 3,500 for 1/2 computer I ended up getting for $1,800 in a windows based machine. I actually still have that hooked up with the one I am on now and both work perfectly and have never frozen or crashed on me. That being said I take care of them, clean out all the temp crap, defrag, scan disc etc...
All that being said including what was posted above by others , my daughter loves her Iphone but my friend at work sold his shortly after getting it and bought a droid, so guess it's what you like and are used to.
