I've got the solo seat and really like it.
Last summer i went on a two week tour with it. The longest day i spent in the saddle was 12 hours and 650 miles. For me, the seat is a great fit and is far more comfortable than it looks. My butt gets less sore with it than it did with the stocker. It did take some time to break in though.
I think it would kinda depend on the size of a persons butt. The seat is fairly small and if a person had a large butt i could see problems with it.
In my case the riding position is much improved. I used to get sore shoulders with the stock seat, but not anymore.
