Where is THIS not the case?

As do MOST of the "elders".

I just don't see it this way.

I agree that after John leaving us, the site may have lost it's "personality" somewhat, but that has a positive side, as John could, and would, somewhat censor things "his" way, and yes, had his own clique. I find that the current group of moderators let the threads run their own course with less interaction from their own personal beliefs, and step in only when truly needed. Kudos to ALL of them!

Have you noticed that with time, most all the "old guard" step back, or just find newer sites. Not just here, but all sites. I mean, how many times can one get motivated enough to post in the "oil threads, or "tires, or ANY issue pertaining to our bikes. After you've read them all, participated in them all, and learned from them all, what's there to hold your interest? Where as it's ALL NEW to the newby's.

Will the circle be unbroken?

I agree that the passing of the Friar changed the tone of the site.It impacted my involvement with the site. Its just not the same without him. I still lurk but don't post like I once did. I also have had most of my Speedmaster questions answered over the years. If I see something Triumph or motorcycle related I still share.

I believe that most members have a shelf life and its a constant cycle.

The management of the personalities of the members is a hard job (for the mods) and I commend them for trying. No politics....its that simple. It gets way out of hand ....fast. Trolls kick into high gear and its a mess.Been there done that. There are all kinds of sites dedicated to political discussions,go there and have at it.

Just my 2c.
