Wed one of them. I noticed the other day that one of the luggage rack bolts had fallen out. I had a spare but when I tried to screw it in, there was no thread. It is the forward most one and seems to go into the chrome strip and not the mudguard. Anyone ever pulled these strips off.? Is there a capture nut in there or some sort of insert: I cant hear anything rattling around. shocked1:

There's a nut or just a threaded boss welded on the inside of the mudguard. It won't fall off. Get a bright spot light and look down in there, sounds like some rust or gunk. You could chase the threads with a tap. Is your spare bolt the exact match? Pull the other side off and see if it takes the threads. The front and back bolts are different lengths.

If you're talking about the fore and aft luggage rack bolts the rear are 8mm thread and the front (that also holds the front seat is 10 or 12mm.
