Now that I am running again, I am trying to ride with the r's a little higher so I can let the engine "breath" as a poster mentioned some time ago. May have been guilty of running to low so my pipes aren't too loud. Any tips on how to run/rev the engine w/o beating on it?

Don't go past the red line. Other than that, ride it like you stole it.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

You pipes are your decision. Maybe think on toning the pipes down somehow.
If you twist its tail and it does not pull right away you should have been in a lower gear. Generally don't cruise under 2800 or so. Your bike likes to be between 2500 and 5000.
At least I find that to be true. I think its probably rider preference.

Hey Stiller! Yinz kin ride that Trumpet as hard as yinz want! I went through a tank of gas (106mi) at over 100mph. Between 6000-7000 RPM the whole time. It don't break!

That motor will be happiest between 4000 and 4500 RPM.

Beautiful, thank yas. I been keepin the r's around 35-40 now. Trying not to use 5th as much unless i'm a steady 50 mph or better so i won't be thinking about a 19 tooth sprocket anymore.

My gears tend to ride with the speedo. 30-40 3rd gear 40-50 fourth gear over 50 5th. works fine IMHO. Your motor doesn't need real high RPMs but it would be happy and smooth over 3k.

How to ride a Triumph, 1Place them in a choice spot in your garage. 2Caress their tanks, jugs and seat before a ride. 3tell them you love them and they are the only badge for you.4ride them hard and fast. 5 use only the finest petrol to quench her thirst. 6. keep her clean with timely oil & filter changes. 7 above all show here respect and love ! Your Triumph will love and reward you ! Unlike those uppity Italian girls and those soul less Japanese chicks. The American girls are nice too but tend to only wear black leather which is nice but sometimes you just like to dress up a little and you can do that with a Triumph !!!!! wing-tips optional.
