Because the cops do it too. It's been hushed "pending investigation", but a local cop was texting while driving on the wrong side of the road and ran a citizen off the road. Official word is that it will take a month to get their phone records. If it were the other way around, it would take an hour or less.



I've seen so many cops texting or typing on their computers as their cruisers drift into surrounding lanes that I've long since given up hope. Every 'internal investigation' anytime, anywhere always exonerates the cop so...you're at the mercy of their stupidity.
