Just curious who rode dirt and what ride ?
Me, Bultaco 250 Pursang, Honda 250 Elsinore and the monster
Maico 501. The Maico convinced me to go to a street machine. For some odd reason my throttle always seemed to be stuck wide open while riding dirt which ended up being the cause of multiple scars. The dirt bikes they are producing now are awsome but I still like the old "60's-70's two strokers. How bout you clowns ?

started out on a 73 Yamaha 125 Enduro (which smacked of a standard Bonnie!), and then a 250 Enduro after that. Riding with nobbies on the open road teaches you a new appreciation for "smooth handling"!

Honda SL350 - scrambler set up for off road racing, Yamaha MX125, Yammer YZ125 (The very first year monoshock dirt bike) and a bultaco in there somewhere too. I love the dirt!
Only problem now is the bones take a lot longer to heal now that I be old man.

Used to go trail riding on the Velocette. Did some on the Triumph 650, but did more hill climbing on that. For some reason, probably because it had a swingarm, the Velo was faster on trails than I could go on the Triumph.
Once, I was riding up a gravel path on the Triumph and noticed that everyone ahead was scattering. Glanced down and noticed that the speedometer said I was going about 30 and the tach said I was going 50. Looked back and saw a gravel roostertail that rivaled a race boat.

I had a 72 Yamaha 250 Enduro and 125 Kawasaki and several other small dirt bikes that I have no idea what they really were because they were bits and peieces of other bikes. but when you are between 12 and 15 and only spent $25 or $50 on them you dont really care. I did have one bike that claimed to be a 1969 125cc Indian. All I can really say about that one was that the points out of VW Bug worked in that bike.

Honda mini trail z50 (age 5 or 6) > Rupp Roadster with the 5 horse Kohler > 2 Honda CT70's (ugly but tough) > Yamaha MX250 (like a YZ but built of heavy metal instead of lightweight plastic!) The MX scared the #$%@ out of me on every ride!

I had a Yamaha Mini Enduro 80 (9 years old), Yamaha 100 (12 years old) Enduro, Suzuki TS185(14 years old -Loved that bike). That Suzuki 185 2 stroke used to blow the doors off any Honda Elsinor 250.

Yammie 360 mx many many years ago ! I believe it was a 73'. Rode it till i broke myself up a few times then decided street riding ios a lot safer ! Well, maybe not as far as serious accident, but i crashed all too often in dirt. Fun stuff tho.

Played in the dirt a lot in my teens and early 20's. Never saw the need or enjoyment in street bikes. It's funny how time changes ones thoughts. Now I LOVE street bikes and know better to stay out of the dirt. Like the song says, "I know better but my mind says oh yes you can".

started rideing in the back 40 on a 50cc h.d. then a 125 bennili, a couple 90 hondas, and a 250 allstate from sears, started ice raceing on a 90 honda then a snortster and then a Triumph 250cub. got outa that, and after several yrs rideing the road i ended up getting a 125RM suzuki (really ENJOYED that bike) it was the first yr for the RM and it had the TM engine and lay down shocks. did a little competition rideing for a few yrs. i REALLY ENJOYED those yrs, but i attribute my passion for rideing to those early bikes and the time spent in the back 40.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Man, you can tell some of these guys have been around by the machines they list!
I started on a late 60s Honda S50 scrambler at 14. At 15 moved up to a Suzuki TS90, Yamaha DT125 (with an electric start no less!) then at 16 began motocrossing on a modded Suzuki TS125 then moved to the open class on a TM400 Cyclone. In the early 70's I worked at Big Town Suzuki in Mesquite, TX as a parts runner just to get parts at cost and to use the shop tools. They took me and the bike to the races on Sundays so I wore their jersey. Man, life was great!
Got my last dirt bike in 77, a Suzuki RM370 that I dragged around to different army bases until I sold it in 1979.

I trail ride quite a bit, I've gone through a number of bikes currently I ride a KDX 200, also in the garage there is a rm 125 (1985) and a 76 Kawi G4 100cc on/off. My wife was the one who convinced me that riding on the street was more fun then the woods. Less stuff to hit on the road.

I spent a lot of money that I didn't have to keep my Bultaco 250 Alpina running. The Honda dealer (and lone Bultaco dealer in our little burg) loved to see my monthly visits for some part that could only come from Spain. This isn't my bike, but what I had:

Rode this thing on the street before finally succumbing to the financial pressures and bought a used Yamaha DT400.

I always like those Bultaco's. I rode one once. Great bike, a lot of fun. Those Yamaha DT 400s were a great enduro bikes too.

The DT400 has some great memories. It (or I) gave me wife her first traffic ticket. When I bought it, rode it home mostly on the front wheel, with her following behind, terrified. I crested a hill and saw a MD State Trooper shooting radar. She was right behind me. I grabbed a bunch of brake and he shot her trying to catch me. She still gives me hell about that one.
Rode a wheelie for a block in our city square, right past a city police car. That one cost me $60 or so back in the early 80's when I probably made $250/week.
After the restaurant I managed closed, the employees would coax me into riding a wheelie between the two traffic lights, about 1/4 mile apart. Usually that was a snap. One night lost it at the end. Trashed both fenders and the license plate holder. This in my work clothes, no jacket but fortunately a full-face helmet (I had some sense). An employee rode me home on his moped. I came in bleeding, clothes torn, license plate crumpled like paper and tossed it on our table - told the wife to "ask me how my night was".
Also got "detained" by Park Police for riding a wheelie across the Burnside Bridge (closed to vehicular traffic) at Antietam Battlefield. Wife has a photo of that one, I'll have to scan for my file.
Yep, that bike was a lot of fun!
