Yesterday after work I was haveing a bit of a trouble getting the 04 America to start. She'd turn over easily just not fire. (Both in gear with the clutch pulled and in N on the stand.) I pulled the plug wires one at a time to check for spark, but didn't see anything, (really bright outside) after that check all the fuses, all good. Figured I try agin and she fired right up, one 1 cylender I might add, stupid me forgot to put the left side plug back on. Anyway, after that she ran great, went to visit a friend up in TN. Fired right back up when I left. No issuse since. I'm just wondering "What the Hell" is there something I need to be on the lookout for? Maybe pick up coil begining to fail?

She has a newish headlight/starter relay so that shouldn't be a problem. The bike sit for a longish period this spring and I can't discount the possibility of corrosion in the fuse box or Ignitor even though they should still be well covered with dielectric grease. Same with the coil inputs, they should still be well covered but it's been a while.

That's why I'm kinda confused. Everything looked good, elecrticaly speaking; no blown fuses, plenty of dielectric grease, all lights working fine, solid connections, and turned over with eagerness everytime I tried her.

Now, how could Ed have possibly known that was going to happen?

Ow! That one has been dead reliable since I replaced the original igniter back in '08 with a Pinwall unit. One of those moments, I went to install the first Avon rear tire at right around 8~9K miles and then it would only run on one cylinder. After the replacement it was my most reliable bike, always started no matter the temp or weather. This hurts...

I'm still not positive this is the issue. And if so there's no way in Hades I'd put one ounce of blame on Ed. He's just not like that.

I'm sure I'll have it properly diagnosed when I'm out 50 miles from nowhere and no cell signal either. LOL.

I wasn't implying that you were implying that. LOL.

I hope I get it sorted soon also, however at the moment there's nothing to sort.

I finally got my bike fixed thru Preferred Power Sports in Brewerton/Cicero NY. Chris diagnosed a bad p/u or trip coil which runs to the lower right case. Figured might as well have it done there rather than replacing parts. He said it should be putting out 600 ohms or whatever and it was only getting 24. Quite the difference. That explains why i could feel the bike kind of dragging. I thought i might have motor issues the way it felt. 1 hour ride no probs. I'm happy again. Out a few hunnerd bucks, but highly satisfied.
