I've had a 20% hearing loss in both my ears for most of my life and now it's something like 30-35%. I've had hearing aids but they're so dern expensive I haven't had any for the last 15-20 years since they are not coeverd by most insurance plans. That's why I sometimes set around at rallies and don't know what the heck people are talking about. It sucks when people are laughing at something and you didn't even hear the joke. I recently checked the VA and it seems they provide hearing aids if you can connect to it to work or not being able to communicate with your Dr. etc. So on Sept. 11th I will be fitted for a brand new set of govmnt issued hearing aids. I'm actually getting excited about being able to hear TV shows, people talking etc. So the next time you see me at a rally I may be lauging along with the rest of you.
Good luck Troy I hope you get most or at least some of your hearing back.
FYI, the first few days things won't sound right. Be patient and keep wearing them. After a few days that effect passes and things will sound fine. Just keep wearing them.
