Steve, no it wasn't that either.
Have had tinnitus in both ears for years due to pipes, guns, etc. did most of the damage to my left ear (though right handed I shoot left handed). Had gotten used to it to the point I really didn't notice it. But this time the ring is very loud and the hearing is all but gone (right ear). Doc is guessing some kind of nerve damage (blood flow in inner ear or inflammation pinching off the nerve).
Anyway I now officially have sudden sensorinueral hearing loss. Some hearing may come back (30% of the case gain some back) or just stay the way it is now. Now do I endure another steroid injection through the ear drum to see if it will help? Not the most pleasant 'procedure' I have ever been through but if it helps its worth a try.
Oh well. Hell, I'm old and lucky to get this far with most of my senses. Nephew is in his 30s and a musician and his hearing isn't coming back. Feel for him.
OK. Back to the regularly scheduled programming.
