My line of work. In an adult that's usually the result of trauma (noise) or ototoxicity as a result of drug or chemical contact (that's how Rush lost his hearing, oxycontin is ototoxic).
Have you an aminoglycoside drug (usually ends with 'mycin')? Or exposure to chemicals?
