i've heard of stators needing to be changed, but it hasn't been an issue for any p-twin owners i know. the r/r is pretty common.
i got the one where you do all the cutting and making the connections yourself. it was really easy, but then, i'm pretty used to this kinda stuff. the old one's harness had to be cut to get it off the bike because of how it routed through the frame and engine mounts. i also got the mounting bracket. it's been about a year and my memory's pretty shot, but i think the bracket mounts where the old one did and and the new one to that. the two units have different mounting holes. you could probably utilize one of the original holes and drill/tap a new one, but i just sprung for the bracket. it's snug, but pretty secure.
