Anyone ever had a problem with the choke sliding out halfway by itself? The first time it happened I was going nuts cause the bike wouldn't idle. That time I just thought it hooked on my glove or something while adjusting the idle. Two weeks later my bikes stumbling at idle and I'm thinking "damn theres something wrong here" NOPE just the choke slightly out. What would make it do that?

The choke assembly is a flattish piece of metal with slots that ride on a ball/spring with two screws/washers (plastic if I remember correctly) holding it in place.

Maybe it's too loose or a spring gave out...either way the tension isn't there anymore allowing it to rattle free. Just need to find what's letting it move so easily.

I'll have to take a look. I don't remember ever feeling spring loaded tension when push/pulling it, but I'll take a look at that.

Thanks Z

The carb cases have a small hole that has a spring with a ball on top of it. The choke slide runs across that. When the choke is off the ball pops into a small hole/divot to keep it in place, when you pull the choke out the ball pops out and allows the slide to move but with some pressure to keep it in place.

detent/ball: same system that holds a socket on a ratchet.

Yep. The one in the song "Rubber Bullets".
