That's the patina many bike builders are lookin' for, for their "Faux vintage" Rat-Trash bikes.
(WHY fake rust/wear!???, talk about POSER! )

Here in Florida, I use the Motocross Chain Waxes that don't (Yeah, RIGHT, supposedly ) attract sand/dirt.

I lube maybe twice a year, or after a wash job, which ever comes first.
