This Post confirms that the resistance should be around 601 ohms. Mike had a similar problem and confirmed the failure by placing the pickup coil in a pot of water then heated it up until the circuit went to infinity at around 130 degrees. Read the post. Very comprehensive and in the tech vault.
Just to confirm, you are testing the pickup coil...not the ignition coil - right? Forchetto's post tested the ignition coils on a 360 Bonneville.
