She came in yesterday, unannounced and like two weeks earlier than I expected. The most beautiful piece of Indian Brown Leather, so soft and supple, it makes me think of Salma Hyeck. Wrapped so taught around the perfect shaped foam, it reminded me of Jessical Alba. That's right, my Corbin seat is here, and DANG is it perfect!

Frankly, I'm afraid to put it on, sit on it, or anything. Right now it's on a Crystal Bowl on our dining room table where the light of the Chandlear highlights the soft brown tones and grain of that beautiful piece of art. I just sat and stared at it all night.

I've always thought that my TBA was the most beautiful bike on this site, now I know. Dang, that's one nice seat!

Jeeze, at least stop googling over them long enough to spell their names right!

That's Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba to you.

You are gonna love your Corbin. You'll be grinning from ear to ear while you ride your sickle from upon it. The first time you get caught in the rain, you will be crying in your beer. Only after your buttocks have made their marks, will you not be blinded by the sight of your Corbin saddle. Only then, will you seek out that great purveyor of goodies as you once again, browse brent's site.

That's true, the thought of rain scares the living helll out of me. I mean, the leather is SO much nicer than I expected. Do you buy one of those covers and keep it with you at all times?

Okay Tom,

You used Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba to reference this new "seat fixation" o' yours.

And here I thought Jennifer Lopez was supposed to be the present embodiment of perfection when it comes to THAT particular topic.

Cheers,
Dwight
(baby got back)

(oh yeah...and enjoy that new Corbin o' yours, buddy)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

If I was riding a big ole fat Harley I would have used J-Lo, but as she's taught, perfectly tanned, and Corbin firm, I opted for Salma and Jessica! Incidently I would trade the seat for either of them! ;-)

No cover. When staying at a hotel I'll use one of the trash can liners to keep the dew off. When you are riding and the rain is coming down, believe me, the saddle is the last concern.

I've ridden on a Corbin almost daily through a couple Portland Oregon winters (rain, occasionally warming up to a drizzle), no problem with the saddle. Looks even better IMO, nicely worn in. Just occasionally touch it up with leather conditioner. Enjoy the new addition!

OK times up! Have you mounted this new seat on the bike yet ?? BTW, I ordered a brown one also, added some fringe to confuse and irritate onlookers which surprisingly added 2-3 rear wheel HP. I was also concerned about rain at first, but now that it's gotten soaked 15-20 times on "slight chance of showers" days, I don't worry as much. It's a little weathered looking, versus brand new, but seems to be holding up just fine.

Do you have any photos??

I hope to have some photos this afternoon. Got her mounted yesterday and it was a shocking difference:

Comfort: As expected it was hard. But oddly it was SO much more comfortable than the OEM Seat.

Seating: I do feel like I lost about 2" of leg room on her. I sit much closer to the tank now and will need to readjust my handlebars.

Control: Probably the wierdest thing was the control of the bike. I swear I could shift my weight from one butt cheek to the other and the bike would turn. I makes the TBA feel like a sport bike. Never expected that.

Negatives: The only negative I can say is after about an hour, the steel bracket where for the back rest mount kind of rubbed me wrong. Nothing to drastic, but will need some getting used to.

Overall: Great investment, looks great, rides better, and feels incredible. Well worth the money.

I'll do my best to have some pics up in a day or two!

You have VERY similar feelings to me when I got mine. More forward, but more control, and the seat bracket thing. I found the back rest encouraged better posture and took the pressure off that spot.

Still waiting on mine to show up. Had some significant discomfort with stock seat after only about a 2 hour ride today. Looking forward to some relief and a closer reach of the controls......

I won't say anything here, as I have another month to wait for my saddle - but I decided to "Go My Own Way". I think the 10 week wait will be worth it. I've owned 3 Corbins - I think the 10 week wait will be worth it.

I will say Corbin's ordering/production process is interesting.
...ordered online...got email confirmation I could check in 2 days about status...3 days later got a phone call to clarify order (that was nice)...3 days later got an email saying "thanks for your interest, received your order and it is going into production, your cost with cleaner is $331 w/shipping...expect it in 2-3 weeks."

What am I saying? I appreciate their service but it seems they are a bit technically challenged, in this day of high-tech, on the computerized tracking/production side of things. Seems like they could be a bit more efficient on the production side and lower the cost.

Oh well...just a thought.

No longer to sit on my sacrum with a 'C' shaped curve to my spine, just to reach the controls! The Corbin has arrived, and after one small, short ride, I don't sit on my coccyx and ache after a one hour ride! Looking forward to much more comfortable miles....

Is the stock seat that uncomfortable or is it the forward position of the feet that makes the pressure points different on our rear ends?? I did notice after a short ride that my rear hurt. Kindof hits on some wrong nerves somehow. I was considering having gel added to the stock seat (maybe) and having it recovered with real leather, Also, if I got a Corbin, I wondered if it's possible to just have the stock pillion recovered with leather instead of spending another $230 with Corbin. It might not look that bad (!). One thing I for sure need is foot pegs under the driver's seat, like the regular upright driving position on a bike, in addition to the forward controls the America already has. Whoever said "bank drain" was right.

What a great idea about covering the pillion seat w/leather. Hey, if my wife can reupholster furniture it couldn't be that hard to recover the pillion to match the Corbin...especially since it is rarely used. Of course I would be forced to do the work but still...

Also, regarding "Bank Drain"...in the 2 years I've owned my America I've spent about $2,200 on basic misc addon/replacement stuff (i.e. exhaust, seats, windshield, bags, chrome, pegs, grips, etc.)...to compare, my friend has in 2 months already spent about $3300 to do basically the same to his new Honda VTX.

Prisilla,
The forward control position prevented me from supporting my wieght on the pegs over rough ground. I could not use the stock seat to support my back 'cause I needed to be forward to reach the controls. Short arms and short legs caused a rounded spine that could absorb no shock. The Corbin seat seems to help. (only a few miles on it) Looking forward to breaking it in..... Even seems to give me more control in the turns, 'cause it fits.....

Well, its not the seat it's the ridding position, I have tried several combinations, I have found the only way on a long(er) trips, is to put my back rest on and the rear foot pegs (which are mounted lower and closer to the rider.

Look at any touring bike for the ergonimics, Harley Datsun changed the V.Rod to make it more of a tourer.

It's a combination of the seat and position. BUT mosti mportantly, it also depends on the person's build. Boney ******, short legs, different lean to the bars, etc, all make a huge difference in where the seat hits and presses.

What Benny said.
I'm 6' with a boney behind (you're welcome for that visual) and I ended up with the Corbin seat and backrest, footboards, and buckhorn bars with Jim's spacers before I found my optimum riding position......

The whole bike fit like a glove first time I sat on her.(I am 5'4") I will probably get footboards first and decide on the seat later. That stock imitation cover is yuk! The pillion is better than the Corbin pillion I had on my Sportster for 10 years so I probably will just recover it. I had that bike so long, I forgot what it was like getting another one ready for trippin. I am going to have to bite the bullet and just spend $$ to get the basics over with. Now...to check up on LeatherLyke and get an update on bags...the saga continues.

Not fancy dancy colors like some of you all but I am excited. Putting 1500miles on it in 3 weeks so am happy that it arrived! They sent a 200 page book about "Corbin: Ideas & Risk, A Life of Invention". Look forward to reading it since it is raining and I can't test out the new seat!

p.s. Yeah I know. Nice outfit/legs in the reflection.

Got a few miles on my Corbin today and it is worth every penny for me at 5'4". Could tolerate no more then about an hours ride on the stock saddle, feel like I could ride all morning or afternoon or both with the new seat.

Here's the Corbin Pillion, My wife hasn't ridden on it much but the short rides she has been on it she says its a 100% improvement. I have put 1000 miles on my Corbin and What a difference! Definitly ride longer, no more leg pain or lower back pain. And I have a bad back, now there is no pain when I've done a day of riding.

Amen, I adjusted my bars to compensate for the difference in sitting position and yesterday was the most comfortable ride I have ever had!
