I must say I am disappointed, at 9,100 miles I noticed some play in the cush drive, took out wheel to have a look.
First time I have had the back wheel out and it was quite difficult to get the axel out seems to have been rusted/stuck to the spacer in wheel, cush drive was disintegrating and both wheel bearings where notched.
Sprocket carrier bearing was fine, I don't particular ride in the wet and never power wash, I would have expected the bearings to last longer than the tyre.

Something is way wrong, those bearings should last way longer than that. Most of us have switched over to the Thunderbird Sport cush rubbers and solved that, but your bearing dilemma is from defective parts or improper initial setup, would be my first guess, anyway.

+1 wheel bearings last a very long time. That axle should have been covered in grease too to avoid the rust you describe.

My wheel bearing were all replaced when new tires were put on about at about 24,000km. Three out of the five were quite rough, I was glad I caught them.

I use boat trailer wheel bearing grease, advertised as water submersible. Exactly a year ago, I was caught in a flash flood up to my airbox near Lewiston Idaho. I did a wheel removal for inspection when I got home and it still looked as If I had just greased and assembled them. All of our wh. bearings are of the sealed variety, so grease those axles and seals, torque them up to spec and you have done about all you can do.

Sounds about right, mine where not totally knackered, but on the way out, My fronts are fine. New ones are pressed in correctly, not by the centre race, as I think that may have been how the originals where damaged.

Should last a lot longer than that. Most of my bikes have double and triple that on the wheel bearings and still fine. My SM bearings are still fine at 30,000 miles.

Well the good news is that wheel bearings are relatively inexpensive to replace.
