I recently changed the stainless hardware for 8.8 plated hardware because I don't think the supplied stainless hardware is up to the task for the long haul.
The M8x20mm bag bolts are also too short, since the bags on my bike are also shimmed out for clearance, I went with M8x35mm bolts, which give full thread contact to the side mounts. Without the shims the longest bolts I would use are M8x30mm.
I also changed out the side mount to framerail bolts for M8x50mm (front) and M8x45mm (rear).
This should be a stronger setup.
