I know how to do that test. When I first put the 3-pot Nissin caliper on with sintered pads I took a test run, doing some bedding in braking. Got home and thought "I wonder how hot the rotor is?" It only takes a fraction of a second to get a badly burnt finger. And then just last week, I wondered how hot the header pipe was. That was much hotter.
The first time I grabbed a hot muffler was at age 9. My brother had just finished riding out go-kart and told me the muffler was loose and needed to be fixed. I immediately grabbed the muffler to verify that it was indeed loose. Blistered all 5 finger tips within seconds...
The second time I purposely touched a muffler/header pipe was 2 months ago after Id just picked up my 77 Bonnie...Hurt like hell for about 3 minutes. No blisters, just shiny skin, then back to normal. I thought it was really odd and wanted to touch other hot surface to see if my fingers would blister or how badly it would hurt. I haven't followed up on that yet.
"stupid's in the water these days, they're gonna drink it anyways, until they don't know right from wrong..."
