I know how to do that test. When I first put the 3-pot Nissin caliper on with sintered pads I took a test run, doing some bedding in braking. Got home and thought "I wonder how hot the rotor is?" It only takes a fraction of a second to get a badly burnt finger. And then just last week, I wondered how hot the header pipe was. That was much hotter.
