I'm not surprised they are designing a new fully faired cruiser. I kind of like the idea. I hope they make it look cool, not an exact copy of the HD.

They're going to need to speed up the full fairing and bags model, a stereo is an absolute necessity in this market. Like you, I'm very excited about this entry into a very lucrative market for my favorite bike company.

yes +1
and people please read the article ..they are just using HD part for testing .. this is a testing mule that has stolen a load of Harley parts to keep it under disguise.

I hope they address the low pro style tire issue that are on the current bird. 6K on average, are you kidding me! If they will address the lack of mileage of the rear tire I would be much more interested in a Roadbird, or is it Roadkill

I really like the idea and I like this bike as a bagger. I never liked this bike as a naked bike. The rad blends in with the rest of the body work, I can't wait to see what the body work looks like Triumph comes up with.

Yep Ian, I agree with ya, and I'll bet the fairing and the saddlebags which Triumph will design for the production version of this concept will not look all that much like those H-D units they tacked onto their test bike there. And, hopefully the bodywork will be as flowing in style and the saddlebags as large in capacity as the Victory's Cross Country models are, BUT have their own unique look to them.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

A Harley clone? You're kidding, right? Triumph failed miserably with the R3 Touring bike. It's the only bike they ever made that was uglier than the original R3. Triumph is coming pretty late to the party with a bagger entry. They're going to have to be w-a-y more creative in the styling than what they're showing in this test mule.

looks like some one did not read the article ...
The Electra Glide rival Triumph has been extremely busy over the past five years and has transformed the model range on sale but don’t think the firm is going to be bringing out an exact clone of the Harley Electra Glide – this is a testing mule that has stolen a load of Harley parts to keep it under disguise.

I read it, and I'll stand by my comments.
If the T-Bagger comes out looking like a HD, a Victory or any Jap bagger, they won't sell many. It needs to have some unique - and attractive - style and function to be successful.

Now you got me goin lol maybe a reason triumph went under in the 80's is because the didn't copy and change. Every bike is a copy of something.
The tiger is a direct hit to BMW.
The thunderbird and America/speedmaster is after Harley and the the Japanese brands.
Im not sure which came first the speed triple it the Ducati monster but they are copys of each other or the costumers if you follow the cafe history.
I cant think of the big sport tour thing but again it is a direct hit to BMW.
So to do a cruise bagger is the next step to steal a nother slice of the pie.
A smallwe bike is probably coming soon to triumph is offering things that most other brands cant right now and that is a big diversity. And they are doing it with a lot better quality.

I got 9,300 out of my last rear tire on my bird.I'm going for 10k on this one. Decisions Decisions. Do you want a Triumph that looks like a Harley or one that looks like a Beemer? So much for the slogan "go your own way".

Since Fuel injection yes. Yet the Bonneville America is a modern day Speed Twin. The day I rode the new Thunderbird while in New Hampshire, I said, "wow, a baby fat boy". However, I'd say Harley cloned Triumph as Triumph is one year older. And Harley knows how to roll. What was it about bowling balls?

Paul I believe 9k is the exception, remember I saw that tire in Georgia earlier this year. You might have been pushing the envelope just a bit

I do think the pre F.I. Americas (and that bastard stepchild, the SM. ) are the one bike that is the FURTHEST from a COPY of any other bike, except the older Triumphs. Copied from H/D?, NO WAY! No V-twin engine, no matching tanks, etc.

If Triumph comes out with a tea-bagger, maybe they could promote it with Sarah Palin? And the grill of the Honda pictured looks like the baleen of a whale.

I do like the front forks on the rune.. but that's it.. and when I look at bird bagger.. looks like they have made it about 8" longer then the stock t-bird and man did they every use HD parts on it looks like every thing but the gas tank, side panels and motor.. every else looks like its HD fenders and all .. also looks like a smaller 180 tire on the back??? and that makes sense.. for better handling but I still see the belt drive.. Mike I still think I could of got another thousand miles out that tire.
The truth is if you check out the T-bird 1600 forum some are even getting less than 6,000 but some are now getting close to 10 with a couple of brands. Most agree the weight of the bike almost at 750 lbs. plus the stickiness of the sport tires are causing the fast wear. The search goes on the for the perfect all round tire that combines good handling and high mileage for the bird w/o going to the dark side like some people we know.
