I've got a set of stock pipes off my 08 that had some of the baffles removed...let me know if you're interested in going that route.....

Either find a set of debaffled stockers or start looking for a set of TORs (factory Triumph Off Road) pipes. I have long TORs on my bike and for me they are just right, nice growl but still civilized enough for a neighborhood.

No it is not "critical" to do it real fast but do not put it off.
The stock tune is a bit lean and less restrictive exhaust will allow more air to flow. More air and the same fuel will be even more lean. Exhaust gasses will be hotter and it will pop & bang a lot on deceleration. *It may still gurgle & bang a bit on spirited deceleration after the proper tune is loaded but nothing like free flowing exhaust with the stock base tune!
Only takes minutes to do after removing the seats to get to the OBDII plug. Dealer will charge you for it but shouldn't be much. Or if a buddy has TuneECU & the needed cable you can do it yourself.

09 America, some modifications

Thanks for the info. Plus it could make my pipes turn blue. I am not sure on that one.

Yes, until you lose your patience and go ride anyway. Seriously,I have read over night, but really a couple of hours should be plenty. The clamp does 99% of the seal, The silicone will not blow out, as there is no real pressure to defeat.

patience .Mine is close to Zero. Thanks, I will try to give it a couple hours at least. I still wish I could find triumph specific instructions. Looks like Triumph has removed instructions at http://www.triumphinstructions.com/

As long as you are using Triumph/America part # specific, exhaust silencers, the same instructions would apply to every single variation Triumph sells. Like I posted to you, as long as all the fasteners are used, torqued correctly, none of the anti-vibration rubbers are in a strain and when you squat down behind your bike, the pipes look close enough to the same to suit you, you're done. Post us some pictures of your bike in the "My Bike" thread. We are all voyeurs around here to one extent or another.

I sure will post a pic, and sound clip. Yea. Torque specs really is what I was wanting to find. Just waiting on a buddy to help me here . Patience running thin waiting for him too But he has some Hi-end snap on tools . That always helps. I probably should have bought some Loctite for the bolts too. But I don't think I will need that. Do u ? Can't ride today anyways. Yet more rain headed my way.

If you use Loc-Tite, use the blue, the red require heat to get it to let go. I do not use it on my two bikes exhausts, and nothing related as ever worked loose. Even on the 11,500 ride I took in July/Aug 2011. The only maintenance is to re torque the nuts at the head and normal periodic once overs, that I do to the whole bike anyway. BTW, if you want some extra torque, just change your front sprocket to a 16 tooth, it won't show on a Dyno, but you will swear it's there.

I've been through three sets of pipe combinations for my '06 Scrambler. I bought the bike used and it had low pipes which sound good but picked up too much grime. I bought the british Customs headers with mini cones and they generated a lot of power but wre a bit too loud. I then went to stock pipes with the BC mini cones and I think I have the right combo now. Not too loud and great power delivery. They look good too. BC also has predators and sleepers but they weren't right for my bike.

Me too. I really like the like that the SS had, but everything i can find out there is either the bell shape or slash cut. Im thinking about using something like this http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Polished-Stainless-Exhaust-Tubing,1708.html
With an aftermakret baffel to give some back pressure and tone them down enough so they are not straight pipes. Any one try something that

It's not really like the engine gets more air due to less restrictive exhaust. Think about it, how could it? Only if you fix the airinlet too. And vice-versa.
But, when that's said. You should always control and- or adjust the settings after doing something to the engine.

I started out cutting the airintake on the airbox. Cutting some more and finally throwing it in the bin. Severel types of exhaust, trying this, trying that. Working with the jetting and airmixture along the process. Ending up with no airbox (Pods from Ramair, UK), freeflow exhaust and new jets, pilot 45 and main 140...or 145) I learned alot during the process, but it was a waste of ridingtime!
So what I think you (all) should do is to remove the SAI, open the exhaust with some good pipes, remove the airbox completely and install pods, rejet or remap. Go out and enjoy your "new" bike!

When it comes to pipes, I bought these from www.louis.eu

https://www.louis.eu/artikel/long-universal-exhaust-chrome-38-45-mm-no-tuev/10027110?list=15176403

And a turnup bit between the pipe and the header for that upsweep-style. Drilled 2X10 mm (or was it 3?) holes in the backplate for some more noise and power. Works great! Saves alot of weight too. Those OEM and tors are really heavy! See pictures in the latest (no 14) issue of "Spirit", Triumph's web-magazine. Good luck!

I would recommend simply gutting your stockers and installing an after market baffle from Rush, Samson,Vance and Hines or the like.

2006 865 Neon Blue/Jet Black Speedmaster,790cams, TTP Stage 2 Firestarter, Epco Exhaust with 10.25" Samson Vrod baffles, UNI pods with 40 pilots, 150 mains,Thruxton needles, 3 turns out.
