Since I got my New America back from 600 mile service I have had this very loud rattle in the front end. I finally figured it out. It is in the mid part of the shock cover beside the turn signal. Very loud when you hit any bump at all . So, the owner is like : yea, Triumph knows about this. He says you might stick some RTV sealant up in there. So, It seems I have no warranty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never in my life seen crap like this ! I am very pissed off to say the least .

Those shock covers in the front end, ahem, just need a squirt of WD-40.

Right. Confusing eh?

OK. No, not confusing. Only way to squirt it would be up then. But that WD is going to drip down on the fender paint, and perhaps mess up the paint.

Are saying to take both off first ? I do not see really how WD is going to fix that part that is so loose though. It is bone chilling LOUD.

I would be getting in touch with corporate Triumph, no new bike should be doing anything wonky, period. This dealer should be named and granted admission to the hall of shame. Perhaps even a invitation to Small Claims Court is in order.

Brand new bike still under warranty, nope i would go back there and tell them to pound sand and fix your bike, bikes are not sold to make that sort of noise. Send an e-mail and cc corp triumph customer service etc, get their attention.

Easy bruh, the person to be pissed at is your dealer. Take the bike back to him and vent there.

You are correct....... Sorry. I just do not like someone talking to me like a idiot... Just could not let that slide. ( Venting here ) .. If I could make the dealer take the bike back. I would at this point.

Do you have a Lemon law in your state?, Some states require vehicle dealers to take them back for any reason the customer has, within so many days of initial delivery.

We sure do. Here in Ohio it is my understanding, U have to let them try to fix it 3 times before this is applicable.

Hey Steve,

Joe's in Dayton is NOT some fly-by-night Triumph start-up/part time dealer. You EITHER got a reply from the "Dick-of-the-day" toad (bad one's slip in everywhere), OR, MAYBE they thought you would rather take care of it yourself, IF it really is that minor of a fix, instead of the inconvenience of having to bring it back to them.

WD40 SHOULD not do any harm to paint (if it's factory paint), but you can place a rag over the fender until your through spraying it, and then wipe off any extra on the fork tubes/legs.

Now IF your uncomfortable doing this yourself, or if you feel it's their responsibility (AND IT IS!), or if you feel it could be something more serious (and it could be) take it back and talk to the tech. BE NICE, as people have a tendency to respond in the same manor as they receive.

I know Moe personally, and there just aren't people as nice as him in life, so let me assure you, he meant well. Sometimes, the typed word isn't received the same by all.

Keep us posted on the situation, and best of luck.

Are you talking about the fork shrouds... in this case lower fork shrouds?

Assuming your dealer wont do anything for you...

Mine used to make a clank every so often. There are a few things to consider here...
1 - There is a rubber grommet at the top. This, before it breaks in, is somewhat thick and causes the shroud to sit not quit so even around the lower fork leg.

I took mine off, bent the mounting tab a bit then used a couple washers to allow it to sit even. I also shot some WD40 at the rubber to give it some lube in case the vibes were making the rubber stick after rattling around the fork tube for a while. There should technically be NO MOVEMENT but its rubber and the bike does rattle a bit.

2 - The top of the lower fork (not shroud) has a hard plastic ring at the top. It keeps the lower shroud in alignment around the fork leg...well, its supposed to.

It could be that something got up in there and is causing it to bind at a certain spot. In that case some WD40 would do the trick. WD40 doesn't eat paint so don't worry... put a rag at the bottom of each one overnight and you should be fine.

3 - if the bike has been lowered using the Progressive lowering spring kit then the lower shrouds could be coming in contact with the inner fender. Check your fender where it wraps around the fork leg for scratches or damage.

In this case un-lower of remove lower fork shrouds.

fork shrouds... Yes, the middle part that has a bright shine.Below the turn signals. All stock on the bike so far..Thanks the advice. I am sorta out of commission some days going through Chemo. Some days I can not even get out of bed. On a day when I feel good. I will try what u say. Thnks much for the advice . I been riding many many brands of bikes for 50 years. So, yes I am new to triumph and all the buzz words . Some seem to give me hell for not knowing aall these buzz words. Oh well. It is what it is.

Talked to the head wrench where I bought the bike. He says you have to beat them with a hammer. I am dead serious .He seems to know his stuff. I bought a 20 pound sledge hammer today. That should do the job real good ... If that does not work I will use Guns.

I think I am catching on how to fix a Triumph. Finally.

Go ahead if you want, but there no way in Hades I'd be beating a brand spanking new bike with a 20lb sledge.

A squirt of silicon spray up the shrouds is a lot easier. Just sayin'

The WD-40 or silicon should achive similar results. And don't worry about them harming the paint, infact it makes a great tar/bug remover, even removes Sharpie too.(just don't leave it on for an extended amount of time) But if any of this isn't working I'd take it to the dealership and MAKE them fix it. Do you think you could upload a short vid to photobucket (or what ever site you choose) and then share a link here, so we can see exactly whats going on with it.

I think my question to the top mechanic would be "Wouldn't my warranty mean YOU need to beat it with a hammer!"

IF not answered with a YES, I'd then follow up with an email to corporate Triumph's warranty department.

BEST OF LUCK on both of your battles. I'm sure each aggravates the other.

Let me attempt, 'cause I'm a certified abtrorationist. Here we go line by line:

1."just wanna second" This means he just wants your attention for a brief moment.
2."the typos can't see emotions, nor emoticons" This just means the typist sorta people do not involve themselves with our emotions. They can't see emoticons either 'cause they squint at the keyboard and dribble crumbs.
3."Moe is a very helpful type dude" This means that Moe loves to help folks type and he has a big 70's 'stash and wears really tight white pants and loves polyester.
4."ise isn't very nowligablated" This means that Aunt Ise does not have Bloated Ligament Syndrome (BLS) today.
5."these heah ridin mah-sheens " Some hoodlum bikers have been riding Martin and Charlie Sheen's mother around Laguna, corrupting her.
6."but ima slowly lernin" This is an indictment against Aunt Isa's cousin Ima, who has a learning disability, much to the embarassment of the family.

I hope that this clears up any confusion here on this wonderful Forum, where peace, love and daisies reign supreme.
