HD made about 5 million bikes in the last 20 years. If Indian got 1%. 1 out 100 of them. 50,000 bikes.
I don't know how its going to work out but I bet they sell over 5,000 for 2014 and could hit 10,000. There is a big interest in these bikes. The style, the national brand, and the 111 motor. A total commitment from a company with enough money to keep the name up and running.
I don't think HD needs to worry. But I think Victory needs to be a bit worried. For the same reason folks buy Triumph they buy Victory. To not be part of the crowd. The Indian does that very well. Polaris could take a customer off of one bike and put them on another.
I wonder how that will play out.
