I so can't wait to see what they will look like.
Could even let the Speedmaster go or one even unsighted.

Yep guys, and just as you are probably feeling, I hope the complete package is as great looking as that beautifully styled Thunder Stroke engine they unveiled earlier this year.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

A good read. I't sounds like Indian will finally rise again, and stay risen this time.

Interesting quote from that interview: Quote:
But to be a serious player in the quite lucrative heavyweight motorcycle market, we had to have a bigger brand than Victory...
I'll be at Sturgis and will check out the new Zombie Indians. Maybe Polaris will bring a demo truck.
Just joking, am interested in the new Indian and will try to post some pictures.

There will indeed be an Indian demo truck at Sturgis with the 2014 Chief. The pic above is a 2013, not a 2014.

Certainly you've seen the new engine by now, HERE
Although the 2014 is all new, I don't anticipate a radical departure in the styling of the Chief, based at least on the profile of the bike released.

That's is a pretty clever commercial alright, however in the feedback columns ("Letters to the Editor" sections) of some of the recent editions of both Motorcyclist and Cycle World magazines, there have a been a few letters published which contain the thought that maybe this tactic of implying in these new Indian commercials that "most Harley riders are all show and no go" might come back to bite Indian in the butt in lost sales and with the very H-D riders they're hoping will switch brands to theirs.
The letter writers in general felt it was insulting to them, and that Indian might have forgotten that many of their potential new customers would decide to keep their H-Ds and add a new Indian to their stable of bikes instead of replacing the H-D with a new Indian.
(...just a little FYI here, 'cause as I said, I think these commercials ARE funny and clever)

Agreed. For the first 10 years or so, I doubt many of the new Indians will be parked alone in the garage. They will have stablemates.

Yesterday I was talking to a Victory dealer that is very concerned that Indian's primary customers, at least at first, will be Victory owners. Hey, it was just his 2 cents. It sure will be interesting to see how it plays out. The fun starts August 3.

Once, if the internet starts to fill with positive feedback, and grows a fan base, Indian will gain market share from them all, Triumph included, I would imagine.

Well John, have you NOT CHANGED ANYTHING on your '06?
I suspect, as with 99% of all bikes, owners will be changin' exhausts, and that FUGLY headlight, as well as many other things.

That picture is not a 2014 Chief, I'm pretty sure that's the 2013. However I don't imagine Polaris will deviate much from the earlier Chief designs, I mean it has to look like an Indian, right? IMO

Yep, Mike, you're correct. The pic that John from "Down Undah" posted is NOT the new "Thunder Stroke" powered all new Indian which is about to debut, but IS a pic of the older "Power Plus" powered Indians of which Polaris has just ended production.

Not sure, met a guy the other night with a 2012 i beleive and he had very few good things to say about it, almost called it crap, lots of issues with it and apparently its a bit of a tend, especially with the body work.

Yep Mike, that doesn't surprise me much. These "Gilroy" Indians(because that's basically what they still were even after they were continued on after the Gilroy California concern ceased production and sold off their assets to others) never received very high marks with any of the motorcycling press either, with excessive vibration and some lack of detail in the finished product being the most noted concerns of the press.

Dwight, you are correct on all points. Let's face facts, Indian has a bad rep at this point in history, and the last 30 years. I realize there is "some" excitement around the new company/design and I love the marquee and the 111 is beautiful. I wish them all the success in the world but I just think it's going to be a long slow road. What's the plan here? Remake the Chief again to take some business from Harley, good luck. From Honda, the VTX guys probably are not going to pony up more $$$ for a "new brand". Victory, take from one hand place in the other. Triumph, some of the Bird guys will be interested, I believe. BMW, That leaves the other UJM, most of those guys buy Yamasahakies big twins because they can't afford an HD. I mean, what's going to be the tagline for a new branded Indian ? " This Time We Really Are Going To Be Around For More Than Five Years" We poke fun at ourselves as Triumph being the old guy bike. "I use to have one them Bonnies back in 1971" Well at least some of the Old Triumph guys are still alive and kicking. All that said, I can't wait to see the new bike

I'd try one in a minute. But, I suppose I wouldn't buy a first year model. I like everything about it. If the money ever gets here, I could difinately see ANOTHER classic styled bike in my garage.

A couple of updates... The other day I visited my local Indian dealer. They had a cutaway of the new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, and another "live" engine on a display stand. I don't know tar from shinola about motor innards, but it looks very stout and is beautiful. They also fired up the working engine for me. It sounds great and the throttle response is very prompt. They're quoting over 115 TQ, and I believe them. It was also pretty darn smooth at idle and at revs. And rev it does. Yesterday I also did an Indian dealer search and there are a bunch more than there were a month ago. They claim their will be many more by year's end. The reveal of the Chief is August 3...

You don't realy think this is the finished product, do you? Anyway, we already know it will have dual exhaust, not 2 into 1. August 3 we'll all know for sure what it will look like. On August 4, the lucky ones will be riding them at Sturgis.

I'll bet it's pretty close to how the final product will appear, Kevin.

I don't know that. How do you? I mean, all we've seen so far is the engine and the headers coming out of it. And remember, the classic postwar Indian Chiefs had a 2 into 1 exhaust, and so I would think Polaris would try to mimic that also.
