If you were a fan of hers in the folk era or jazz there is a very good and rare interview with her on CBC done by my daily companion in the car Jian Ghomeshi. He does good interview and she is an interesting old bird. Video version should be on line by tonight I saw part of it last night. Smoke in her hand almost the whole time and she can't sing anymore, hmmmm.

Clicked on the link and got a "proceed at your own risk" message. Hadn't thought about Joni Mitchell in a long time..... Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got till it's gone......

occasionally while listing to a 1000 song mp3 player, Joni Mitchell will que. Kate Bush, Lori Anderson. all are a welcome change from main stream music.

Music is like motorsickles: all of it/them is/are good. Heck even when Charlie pulls up with that obnoxious rap, well maybe not.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when Joni Mitchell would be referred to as an "old bird"!

Perhaps CBC likes to warn people they are entering an area of enlightenment. Although Joni Mitchell interview is not there yet if you want to get a good sense of his style go to www.youtube.com/Qtv The interview with Billy Bob Thornton is revealing. And many others from Neil Young to Woody Harelson.

She is not the young waif you see pictured in that video above. Alot of her appeal has always been that she has been a bit of an Odd Duck.......oh there I go using those aviary similes again.

...take paradise and put up a parking lot.

I saw Carole King on MSNBC the other day. She is another one of my favorites from those years along with Joni Mitchell. She is 70 now.

The older I get, the younger 70 becomes.

Thanks Jim for posting these, our youth seems so long ago. Two days ago I was notified that someone I've not seen or spoken to in 30 years wanted to see me again. The memories came flooding back to me, some good some not so good............

"Court and Spark"...one of the all-time greatest albums ever in my book.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I have an old buddy from college that is, among other things, a DJ in Homer, Alaska. He sent me this link to an article that talked about the lives of a bunch of (most of) our favs, including Carole King's violent, psychotic boyfriend. It's quite a read.

I once heard Joni say in an interview that back in the early days, her voice sounded like it was on helium!

Joni was the reason I bought a dulcimer... I still have one!

Sally herself is a really good singer and did a few songs on the wedding and after that I can't remember a thing

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe

I got to see her play, at Yasgur's Farm of all places, in 1995. It was epic, to say the very, very least.
