go down to any 3M or equivalent dealer installer of the hood and fender protectors, ask if you can buy some of their scraps or end rolls which for them are not much use, might cost you 5-10 bucks or so, thats what i did and much of what really gets wacked or rocked is now covered and you would barely know it. Spray water (little bit of dish soap) peel the protectant apart, place on part, squeeze all the water out of the sides (credit card or something) let dry and the stuff darn near disapears, UV friendly and you can wax right over it.
