So, how many motorsickles have YOU had stolen from ya over the years, folks? I've had two: A 1978 Honda CX500 and a 1980 Yamaha XS1100. So, what year/make/model that YOU'VE owned in the past("past" of course being redundant, I suppose) have YOU been the victim of havin' some lowlife scumbag thievin' dick take from your possession when you weren't around in order to kick his freakin' ass for tryin'??? (...oh, btw...and if anyone wants to throw a little levity into their posts OR maybe even sidetrack this thread of mine here, don't worry, I won't mind...ya see, I'VE always thought that looking at bad situtations with a little jaundiced and cyncial eye aimed toward the appreciation of the absurdist humor which can often and surprisingly be found in these sort of things, can and often does help soothe the hurt and the sense of lost inherit in 'em...but yeah, I know, not everybody appreciates that, do they?!)

Never had one stolen but, except for living in San Diego for a while, I've lived in pretty safe areas for that kind of thing. A spare Triumph would be pretty noticeable around here. It would have to be shipped out of the area.
On the other hand, a stolen Harley could probably be parked in front of the police station with all the others. It would be easy to part one of those out on Craigslist.

Yep Chet. I suppose it's kind of a take on the ol' Supply and Demand Principle in action here, ain't it. The more popular a vehicle is, not only are there more out there available to be stolen, but the more parts can be sold to all the owners of the cars out there owning the same kind of vehicle. (...well, it's either THAT, or the aforementioned lowlife scumbag thievin' dicks who steal all those Camrys, Civics, Pickups and Harleys, just haven't developed the sense of if a vehicle is really fun to drive/ride or not!)

I had my 76 T140 bonnie stolen twice, both times it was found in the ghetto with the fork lock drilled out. Funny thing is, I never locked the forks having lost the key back in 78. Morons thought it was the ignition. My guess is that they used a vehicle to steal it, but I'd like to think they pushed it for two miles. Btw, in my case, both bikes WERE recovered by the police. The Yamaha was pretty much all intact, but I'll never forget the call I received from the police impound lot after the recovery of the first one...the Honda. They called and said my bike was available to be picked up at their lot, and so OFF I went with a sense of relief to hear this joyous news. When I got there, they told me it was out back, and so I RUSHED out there to retrieve my pride and joy, BUT I didn't see it ANYWHERE???!!! Turns out it was the piece of metal that used hold everything together on it. Yep, just the frame was sittin' there all by its lonesome, alright! Though I DO have to admit those "lowlife scumbags thievin' dicks" that stole it WERE nice enough to leave the chromed rear brake pedal bolted to it TOO! (...ya see, there's ALWAYS a "little ray of sunshine" to found in ANY situation IF ya just look hard enough!!!)

Had a bicycle stolen once. About 6 years later, I spotted a cute young lass riding it. Took her home and her boyfriend told me to just keep the bike. Smart move on his part.
Now, if I could just get my hands on the judge that let the 3 thieving scumbags that broke into my house ('94?) out of prison early. Overcrowding/good behavior my ass!

Eeh! Whaddaya still mad about here, Stephen?! Word over here in the States is that ALL those 1972 Valiant Rangers had their steering wheels bolted to the wrong side of the instrument panel, dude! (...and so, MAYBE that was a blessing in disguise, HUH?!)

No motorcycles stolen but I have had 3 or 4 chainsaws taken out of my sheds. Last time was after hurricane Ivan and he/they took two. 1 old, the other really old, both saws were truly worn out Was needing a new replacement. Pretty sure the thieves were the guys that just showed up in my driveway the morning before looking for "work".

The only bike I had stolen was the second bike (street bike) I'd owned. It was a '71 H1. The guy that traded it to me for my '64 mustang 289 came back and took it from my fathers carport. The "silver lining", If there is one, is that the 289 I re-built in high school auto shop had cam bearings improperly installed  (from the shop that serviced the bare block) and didn't last 500 miles. (probably WHY he stole the bike in the first place) However, the H1 's top end went due to not being properly serviced when HE re-built it , and wasn't running (heads, cyl., pistons & pins removed) when he took it. My dad laughed and told me to "Quit throwing good money after bad", and just go buy another. That's when I got my '74 H1.  Ah, the "Glory Days" of ignorant (incompetent) yutes!  (by the way, The forth H1 I owned was another '71, WHICH I STILL have today!)

74 DT360 enduro but the joke was on them.I had seized the clutch so the cases were assembled but empty. I lived in a room at the time and didn't have room for everything. So the got a frame and engine cases with no guts.

Loved that car! That was back in the days I could take 10 people to town in it and as long as I was sober the cops didn't care how many were in it.

Back in the day, I swapped rides with a friend who had a tuned RD350. I was used to my CB350. That little RD scared me like no other bike ever has. Fun, but scary. On or off - nothing in between.
Of course, there was about 100 pounds less of "me" back then.

Yep, while I LOVE the looks of a TLS drum brake(of which once again the Kawa's binder on the early H1's sorta reminded me of the Norton's brakes of the time too), there IS somethin' to be said about the effectiveness of a disc set-up.

I started my H1 journey with a '71. Moved up to the '74, then a '73. Due to the DRASTIC decrease in RWHP from the '71 to the '74, I settled for the '71 in the end.
To be honest, even as a teen, I was scared of the H2's! Hell, I was scared of the H1's, but got over it. The ONLY reason I have a '72 H2 now is that due to the price of one today, it couldn't be a "toy". It HAD to be an investment.
Now I also had a S2, and it was FUN!!! Not TOO much power, very, VERY lite, and about as small as some of todays Ruckus's! You could really "PLAY" with them in traffic!

Steve, if you saw the last few posts in that "Indian" thread where I mention my friend Phil in California and his collection of bikes, well, he also has a Kawa 750 H2 which he let me ride a few years ago.
Yep, I felt just like YOU felt riding that RD350...once those puppies hit the sweet spot of their rev-range, which DOES seem to come on all at once, yep, you better have both hand firmly grasping those bars, alright!

A gent in Crossville,Tn who has been a Kaw dealer fo 30 + years has a brand new Blue 1972 H2 750. You read that correctly "Brand New" with I think 0 miles on the clock. He states there are 5 "new" ones known to exist. Proudly displayed in a glass case in the middle of his show room, one of many treasures in his store. If you're every in the area give me a shout and I show you his place.
I'm an old Suzi Triple guy myself but I know class when I see it.
And you are so correct about the RD's, fast as a Tazmanian devil with the devil chasing him !

Some creep I used to work with stole my 82 650 honda.I invited him over fer drinks.When it was time to leave he borrowed a jacket and wheeled my bike out of the garage.When the cops called a week later and said they had found it,they asked me to come identify it,they asked me to sit in the back seat,I found that strange,then they arrested me for an unpaid ticket.

While stationed (1973) at George AFB,/Adelanto, Ca. my Honda 250 Scrambler was stolen, the guy was caught but not before the Honda was striped and the frame dropped down an abandon well out in the Mojave desert.

At the ripe old age of 21 I took a '76 Suzuki GT 550 on a 17,000 mile cross country sojourn over a period of 5 months. I'm pretty sure I went everywhere. Everyone should be so lucky. I poured in gas and oil. The bike performed flawlessly. Back then it was a mid sized bike. I could cruise fully loaded at 80mph all day long.

This "twice stolen" thing reminds me of somethin' that's happened to my Canadian half-brother Phil who lives in Calgary.
The last time I talked to Ma up there in Kelowna BC, she told me Phil had just had his 2000 Chevy Silverado pickup stolen for the THIRD time!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I had a 1969 Yamaha L5T 100 that I rode from age 16 and into college so about age 22. I did not deserve to have a bike that needed so little maintenance. I gave it very very little. It was stolen out of my driveway in Eugene, next to my 1959 VW Bus (even those mellow hippies can be thieves). It was found about 4 day later lying in bushes about 10 blocks or less away. All they stole was a tank badge and one side cover. I took it back home to Southern Oregon after that and replaced the two parts for less than 20 bucks. Sold it to my Uncle, and as many stories go, wish I had just kept it.

I had a Harley stolen but they brought it back.
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

Caught a couple of guys trying to toss my '49 Triumph in the back of a truck. Fortunately, they couldn't get a grip on it because it was one of the early OOF (Oil On Frame) models.
