Visited Myers Triumph in Asheville, NC today. What a nice group of people. A small family owned business, you could just tell they were honest and would treat you right. Too bad they are 2+ hours away or I could find myself hanging out there. If your in the area check them out, and buy a shirt or two. On to the threads title. When I walked into this dealership I was met by the family and a "wow your bike is beautiful" . Cool guys, thanks a bunch. After meeting everyone I'm looking around at all the nice new toys the owner, says hey Mike, maybe you should charge admission to let people look at your bike, he says the Harley guy is taking pictures of it, really, yes really. Sure enough I look out the window and this HD rider on a white street glide ( I think) is snapping pictures, funny shat. The Cardinal Red 2003 attracts people like flies to honey. I bet in the 10 years I've owned that bike probably no less than 100 people have told me "man your bike is beautiful". I'm like a Rock Star everytime I head out on Red Devil

My experiences have been quite different. Fortunately, there's another Triumph dealer just 42 miles down the road. That saved me a ton of money and frustration. The Triumph riders I know in Asheville generally make the ride to Greenville, SC, if they need a dealer.
Glad you had a better experience, though. I've got nothing against them personally.

Interesting,Myers has managed to survive in this economy, I wonder who is keeping them in business. They are highly thought of by a couple of old school Triumph collectors in my neck of the woods that I trust.
Sometimes people have a bad experience and you have to move on, I'm glad you have another choice to go to.
Here in Knoxville we've had three different Triumph dealers go belly up over the last ten or so years.

I had a very different experience today with my dealer. The local BMW shop just got the license rights to sell Triumph and Ducati, today was the Grand Opening of the dedicated showroom for each bike respective. The emails and local ad stated es third party supply Reps to answer question, a helmet raffle, a BBQ starting at 11:30 discounts on branded merchandise and live music....sounds good,, eh? I got there about 11:15 to get parking and scope out the new showroom, quite a few off road and sport models, one Thunderbird, 2 Speedys, no BA's and about 6 Bonnevilles. I asked about the test ride and was told because they were basically landlocked in the showroom it would be next to impossible to get them outdoors. The branded attire was in the 24-32$ range for T-shirts, food was finally served at 12:30 (it was catered by a local BBQ joint...when I asked for a napkin I was told that they "were on their way", I saw no factory reps or third party reps, no band. The canopy providing shade held 10 tables with 4 chairs at each table...some old coots with BMW shirts (2 of them) brought all of their friends and neighbors for a free feast and took 12 chairs for their table. Did I mention that this was all in 100+ degree heat? It was a bad start for a new brand kick-off, I hope it improves in the future seeing how it is the only Trumpet dealer within 100 miles. The drawing for the Schuberth Helmet was slated for 2:00...winner had to be present....did I mention it was 100+ and no shade to sit under (Freaking BMW McDonald morning meet up club).
The highlight is that they had (pasting from the email: Rene Cormie who is the author of "The University of Gravel Roads". Rene Cormie was a 33-year old adventure rider who took a BMW G650 GS on a a three-year-long motorcycle journey around the world. Never one to let excessive planning get in the way of a good ride, Rene runs out of money half way through the tour and ultimately takes five years to cover his 41-country, 154,000-kilometre (95,000 mile) route. Written with equal measure of cultural insight and travel logistics, this light travelogue brings you alongside Rene as he pulls off the ride of a lifetime, doing it the old-fashioned way; no sponsors, no support vehicles, and no idea about what he is going to learn along the way
Rene and I spoke at length, he was a great guy with some very interesting tales. Almost 100,000 miles....now that is what I call an Iron Butt!
But, with all of my complaints, I had a good day, nothing like getting back on the road to renew good feelings.

Well, their margin is much higher. Based on my experiences and observations, OTD costs are about $700 to $1400 per bike over what I've paid in Greenville. They also don't take trade ins other than Ducati or Triumph.
Actually, I am happy about that. I was all set to pay $8400 for my America with no accessories from Myers. When they wouldn't talk trade in I went to Powersports of Greenville (SC) and paid $7400 for the identical bike plus Triumph saddlebags and windshield.
I have since bought 2 more bikes from Powersports, so it was a stunningly poor business move by Myers. I've checked them out for tires, batteries, etc., (it's just business, I didn't take it personally) and their prices simply aren't competitive with even the other local dealers of other brands.
As you're in Knoxville their prices may be competitive compared to your local market. Myers deals in Triumph and Ducati and, from what I've gathered, has taken on kind a a 'bike boutique' personality, catering to guys and gals with thousand dollar riding suits and $200 gloves.
Powersports sells Triumph and most of the Japanese bikes, but not Ducatis, and they have a huge inventory of both new and used bikes. While I've never had occasion to use it their service center seems very complete (much larger, anyway, than Myers) and one of my neighbors ran it for 13 years before tiring of the commute. He's the guy I go to now if I need a pro. He tells me it's a good shop.
Anyway, I'm glad you had a good experience and I wish I liked them more, as they are on the side of town closest to me and I can get there in minutes.

I should mention that my neighbor with the Hypermotard bought it at Myers. The story they told him was that it was Mrs. Myers bike and she only drove it on Sundays (no doubt to church).
Anyway, he seemed OK with them.
