This is the general discussion forum where all these motorcycle guys discuss other interests. Most people are not unidimensional but have many interests. There was a thread here not long ago about dr. Who but you didnt go bitching then did ya. Thats the thing about a forum. You can enter any discussion ya want and ignor any other. You can also start any thread ya want. If ya want to talk about motorcycle stuff the start a thread on a perticular motorcy le subject. Im sure many will chime in and it will become a discussion. But this forum does not suck nor is it beging too. Its always been this way for as many years as I have been here.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

May I suggest a "Triumph (or Motorcycle) General Discussion" Forum and a seperate "Off Topic" Forum.
In theory a motorcycle specific should have the highest number of posts on the General Triumph section and not off-topic.

223228 off topic and some of them are about motorcycle related subjects
2979 forum help posts.
Seems about right for a well balanced community of motorcyclist.
It kind of reminds me of a church forum I visited once and folks were crying about the fact that people were discussing other things than church.
Many folks with many interests in one place means many subject discussed over a period of time.
Sounds like a good group to me.

This verbal intercourse , or what we endear as BS , is a therapeutic , colorful and metaphorical exchange of wit , humoUr and levity that we , as overstressed bipeds desperately need to maintain a healthy balance of endorphins and oxycontin levels in our hypertalmud. (that's located in the back of our synagog)
Sometimes we just wanna kick back in a genuine faux leather black Aeron chair and speak in run-on words , pop certain things and exude Taurus domesticus poo upon our fellow comrades in the security and relative anonymity of the Internet that Al Gore invented while hypoxic.
Discussing things sounds so Ward Cleaver / the Beave interchange.

Well, since this IS a BS thread, (or Taurus domesticus poo), what I was eluding to was a tongue in cheek reference to a tiny organ (not like a Hammond with the Leslies, but like a little bitty body part, like a gizzard) located in the back of our hypothesis. And this double post is 'cause I've been so engrossed in this exchange of BS that I have yet to learn how to post a double quote. Bummer.
I have to go now and practice my Parade Wave as I have been invited by the Moldavian Council for Foreign Relations to be the Grand Marshall in the Rutabaga Festival Parade.

On a lighter note just thought I'd mention my latest m/c acquisitions including the new Indian Chief, a 2012 HD Electra Glide and a beautiful new Victory Cross Roads Classic. Of course none of them can touch the turbo charged Triumph Rocket III I have on order but around here, that pretty much goes without saying!

Hey If any of this is my fault I appologise. I'm not trying to start any drama or piss anyone off. I just like to stir the pot ooccasionaly, hopefully to help create some creative thinking outside the box. But also I'm not one to sugar coat anything or beat around the bush, I call it like it is. All that PC crap is for the birds. Oh, and I would think that most of you can tell when Im just spewing a bunch of BS, (mainly just hoping someone will get a smile of a laugh out of it) or trying to break the ice. One more thing, I don't have nearly the time or money to put into my bike as I would like, so it's not close to par with some of the fine machines 'round here, so I really can't brag about it. But I do have some mighty fine ideas of what I would like to do to it.

I sold my America over a year ago..
and, I still visit this site once a day.
For me, this place is more than a motorcycle site.
I won't get into the stories shared over the years...
However, suffice it to say.. it's more than a BBS.

I've thought that for several years, Mike. But I kind gave up worrying about it. If I see a thread on toilet paper or the best beer I will just ignore them. It is pretty rare to get a genuine thread about bikes and riding. When I see one I just enjoy. People say this is the lounge and you can talk about anything you want. My position is, it's a lounge on a MOTORCYCLE fan site, so you would think there would be more threads pertinent to motorcycles. Maybe I'm getting old but I just go with the flow and ignore the stupid threads and hope for some mc talk.

Come on guys really how much is there to say about Triumph Americas and Speedmasters?
post the service manual, and what...........both reviews that came out over the past ten years? Then what? Tires? We have a section for that. Oil? Still goes in the tech forums. Where and when we ride? There is a rides forum. This is the " OFF TOPIC LOUNGE ". That means other stuff. There really a limited amount of things to say about these bikes.
Im a member of a pipes and tobacco forum that only allows pipe and tobacco discussion. They rehash the same ole shite and then its dead for weeks until someone decides to rehash it again.

Ok guys I come in peace, obviously I did not choose my wording very well in the post title and regret that. I can’t take it back so I’ll move forward. This forum does not suck, it’s a great bunch of people. But like any family it has those members that are well… I’ll just leave that alone. Someone mentioned they had been around the forum for years, I also have been around for years, early 2003 to be exact. I’ve watched the forum grow from a handful of members to a worldwide community and I’m still amazed what Robert started and where it is today. The forum began as a friendly source for Triumph Bonneville America enthusiasts simply to fill a void that did not exist. It has grown in to a fantastic database of information for our bikes, vendors, aftermarket suppliers, etc. I think that friendly/family atmosphere was part of the reason a lot of people were so attracted to the site. I truly do not think Robert intended the forum to be an open discussion of other topics. I may be wrong but it’s my belief. With that the members have swelled over the years, some stay forever and some move on. What I’ve noticed over the last few years are discussions (IMHO) that were never intended to be part of this online community, some are tongue in cheek and some are not. These are topics I see every day in other mediums, most of them I’m tired of hearing about and don’t want to read about them again on BA.COM Reading this forum is one of the first things I do everyday and I plan on being around here a long time. Thanks to Jim Dressler and all the other moderators for filling the role left by Friar John. You folks are better than me as I would probably be using Big John's Hammer on a daily basis. I was gonna say if it's me please let me know. Cause I still consider myself a newb when it comes to any tech advise on these here bikes, (sure I can turn a wrench and figutre stuff out), I don't own any other bikes. But unless someone tell me directly I need to ZIP-IT.  I'm prolly gonna keep on BS'n with the rest of em. But I swear I do it all in fun, I'm not out to hurt any feelings, oppress anyone or piss anyone off. All for laughs my brothers. I respect all of you more than you know.

Mike, I for one am glad you were honest about your thoughts in the matter. While I disagree (not total but in part) I respect your opinion.
In fact, while all the fellas who have stepped up to moderate and run this site are doing a wonderful job, I feel the loss of John has left a hole in the spirit of this place. So these conversations should take place as a way of moving forward.

Well Chad, I can honestly say,, oh wait no I cant,,, owh hold on, yes I can honestly say, any of my bike talk will go into the "As soon As I can get the extra money and make it happen" catagory. As said. not too much more to talk about on my bike for a gen forum, but I did like the note to make sure I was ok and the call from Matt.
That is what this forum is about. Forum friends calling to check on someone and posting up concern. Now that is what I think FJ loved. Our common love of the bikes that has grown into friendships tied together by fiber optic electron pulses.

Well,  I wanted to mention how my little Model 15 Divco just got modified. it is really cool. Oh well, time to get on the bike ( motorcycle mention) and ride home I guess....the tornados are gone for now...and the pomeranian is there, lonely and waiting for dinner as is the horse , and the cat....but the roast in the crock-pot should be ready to eat..... wonder if there is time to look at the back yard......need to put down some flag stone...it is flooded after all the rain...new project I guess. At least the house was treated for termites so that is one less thing to worry about. I like the pomeranian but he doesn't like me, he prefers the wife.... hugged my Bonneville( motorcycle mention) but it burned my arm , that wasn't good. My old Ford truck never did that but then again the engine is under the hood and not easy to give a hug to. The engine that is. It is pretty easy to hug a wheel though but there , it gets you kind of dirty unless it was just washed then you just get wet..  ok, got my rant out.....time to ride home (finished with motorcycle reference).
