I'm not clear on something. Did she have a support truck hauling her gear to Panama? Even if she did it sounds like a great ride.
My wife read her comments about butterflies and said, "This girl is whack."

Support truck? lol I like that kind of crazy as one has to be a bit wacky to undertake such sojourn. Quote:
11/09/2012 Lalo is my hero. He rode his motorcycle hundreds of miles to find me when he found out I was riding alone in the southern part of Mexico trying to get home without a GPS or map. When we finally met, I gave him the biggest hug thanking him for coming to get me. I am sure I would have been able to ride through Mexico alone, but he was able to get his friends to escort us through some of the most dangerous parts of Mexico and avoid riding through Mexico City. The ride through Mexico City down was difficult, I did not want to ride through it again.

A couple friends just returned from driving their jeep from Asheville to Columbia (the country, not the city). They took several months and had adventures along the way.
Consequently, I'd read about various areas as they traveled through. I learned the murder rate in Mexico City (if the statistics are correct, anyway) is 1/3 of that of Washington, DC.

Not been to M.C. but done 3 road trips over the past 8 years in Mexico and nairy a hair on my head disturbed. If it bleeds it leads so thank media for creating the hype.
This women sure has nerves (and probably buns) of steel to do such a trip in that period of time.
