It was Monday morning; I was commuting into Boston, as I have done 100 times before. The three cylinders oh my 97 Thunderbird, churning harmoniously. Huntington Avenue is a very busy thoroughfaire, as it serves as a two lane road into town. It was a lovely day. That was about to change. Suddenly, traffic stops! BRAKE. SWERVE RIGHT. I clip the bumper of the Prius in front of me. The bike goes down, and I with it. I land hard on my right shoulder. I didn't roll or slide. I just popped up on to my feet. Embarassed, and humiliated. I walk over to the sidewalk. A cast of well intentioned folks gather. Pull off my gloves; 10 fingers. Good. I reach up to remove my DOT/SNELL full face. It is at this point when I notice that my right shoulder is hurting something wild. I look over at the bike. She is lying in street, spilling fuel onto the street... like a slaughtered beast. Then, Boston's best arrive in the form of Police, Fire and EMTs. Clearly, they have done this before. The EMTs convince me to take a ride over to the hospital for a once-over. The verdict: a distal fracture of the clavicle. I will visit an ortho on Friday to see if it requires a pin. The Thunderbird... I await the prognosis This could have been A LOT worse...

Yes sir, it could have been much worse. I'm glad you are relatively ok. Im sure with some work the bird will be back up and strokin along. Be careful out there its a jungle.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Sorry to hear it, Mike. But hey, your post-crash write-up was excellently written, anyway! (...heal quickly!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Glad to hear things didn't turn out too bad. At least we aren't reading an obit.... What some people do to recycle their rides..... Hope the bike was insured.

Glad to hear you're OK Mike. You seem to be in good spirits, or maybe it's just the happy pills.

Damn! That's a hard thing. I hate that sick feeling when you see your bike on its side. Funny how its your first and second thought before you even realize you may be broke too. I hope it's all good news from here on.
