I don't travel long distances and have no need for actual saddle bags, I do like the messenger style bag made for Royal Enfield and may consider them in the future. All I need to carry is a tool kit and do not like the look of bags on the forks so I used the bolt positions from my rear hangers to mount a tool bag. All I did was reinforce the holes in the leather with washers and put a wing nut on the top connector to let the bag drop down even if need be. I do wrap my tools in a one gallon freezer bag & then roll that into a shop towel, it keep the tools from dropping out if I open it in the sideways position and stops any rattling around. It's kind of a cheesy fix but it works.

I also have that bag for my tools. As you can see, I hang it from the bottom of the frame cradle.
It's been fine there for years now.

I don't like fork bags either. But,...

I fab'd a stainless 90 degree bracket with holes that line up with two existing holes under the bottom fork clamp, bolted on and 4 holes for bolts and fender washers inside the bag and that thing is solid. I have the scale drawing to make your own if someone wants a copy. Very nice setup.

I would like the drawings and also want to know the name of the cutie on the HD, lucky man!

i had a similar setup for a minute. then my girlie complained that it interfered with her foot position.

I wanted to bump the thread because I forgot to gather opinions from the group on my front forks...I removed the shrouds and added some gaiters. I am working on a new front fender, I do not like the look of the stock BA, it seems too fat at the center.

amglo - shroudless with gaiters is teh sex. so much better than the shrouds. just did it to mine pretty recently, too.

I think our forks look too skinny without the shrouds or maybe the yoke is too fat. I went with upper shroud and gaitors. Think its the best combo for our bikes.
