Folks,
When I release the throttle, either when riding or revving, the engine decelerates too quickly in between shifting. I've ridden other cruisers and touring bikes (v twins) and the engine rpm stays more constant with shifting. I almost never have to Rev the other bikes to downshift, either.
Is my push pull throttle cables out of whack?

Thanks, bros

Sounds like you may be down shifting too soon.

Shifting, downshifting, reviving, engine decels to quick and too low. Not a real smooth transition. Always been that way. Maybe a characteristic of the bike, who knows

Blip the throttle when you downshift.

How low does your bike idle? How many miles on the clutch? How much play in clutch cable? How much play in your throttle?

Maybe install a Jake brake..........
Seriously, these engines rev and decel pretty quick, just the nature of a small parallel twin with a (relatively) small flywheel. V-twins usually have a pretty heavy flywheel and that can slow the deceleration, as well as the acceleration. Newton's second law of motion, I believe.

Learn to love it and shift quicker; I don't even use the clutch on upshifts.

Hes having trouble shifting, that shouldnt be no matter where the revs are. With the exception of trying to jam it into first at 40mph, neutral can beand a bit tough to find when sitting still. These trannies are generally pretty good, a bit notchy or ratchety how ever ya wanna say it, but usually they do well.

I use no clutch for upshifts past 2nd gear. If your engine is decelling between shifts to a noticable degree then you are shifting far to slow. The p twin is far more spirited an engine then the v twins, embrace the revs, these bikes do better at higher revs.

That makes better sense... the flywheel.!
Thanks for the reference
