Rather than prison for a crime like this there should be a more fitting punishment. Restitution for start. The victim should be made whole. Anything owner by the thief should be sold and the money used to restore the victims property. If that is not enough the thief should be forced to hand over earnings to the victim. The thief should also be publicly shamed. Time in stocks, or other public shaming. His picture, name and address online or in the paper. If he continues to steal then chain gangs or other forced labor.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
