These things normally are used by the Masai (more like tolerated with GRAVE RESPECT!!!) to keep their gardens free of pests. These things will DEVOUR anything not able to outrun them, and it is not uncommon once they have devoured every mouse, bug, bird, etc... in the gardens to turn on the Masai themselves and attack them. They move fast and the normal cause of death (yes also not uncommon) is listed by coroners as suffocation, because in the process of overrunning a person (people who fell asleep drunk on the ground in the wrong place die where they sleep), they infest the lungs(through the mouth and nose), and fill it with swarming ants and begin eating from the inside out as well as devouring the outside. Was watching a show about that the other night, and they were talking to a friend who was visiting friends there, and they heard a screaming from their newborn baby in the other room, the baby was covered with ants, I mean every single square inch, and they just got him out of the room and cleaned off before they had a chance to do any major damage beyond some biting (parents think about that one, seeing your baby covered in flesh-eating ants!) Yikes, makes me skin crawl just thinking about waking up covered in these things!!!! And the Masai live hand in hand (or mouth) with these things!! YUCK!
