I am considering wrapping my header pipes. Not to look cool or any performance (imagined or otherwise) gains. This will be in addition to replacing the current modified TOR mufflers. The surface of my header pipes are deteriorating from several factors I'm sure. I had a very lean running condition for longer than expected. Waited a long time before removing the SAI. Live close to the Gulf of Mexico. Rain happens, “cleaning” afterwards does not. The m/c was purchased to use for transportation and gets used as a daily driver for work, errands, groceries & such. Parked under a car cover, not garage kept. The headers are not so much bad as rough. This may cover up some previously shinny stuff and cover some crappy stuff at the same time.

OK then, for some sage advice.
Several sites state 50 ft will wrap both Bonneville headers, what about our double walled header pipes? Don't really want to go through the extra effort to cut the outer wall away. Will 25 ft each be enough?
Can I do it with the pipes on place? Should I go through the effort of removing the headers and wrapping them off the bike?
Use the kit included or other wise fancy SS tie wrap thingies or parts store hose clamps for securing the wrap?
Wrap from bottom of the header pipe up to the cylinder?
Thanks folks for any help.
