Tonight I decided I would change my turn signal lenses and bulbs. Not a big deal untill I tried them out .the lights flashed as if I had led lights installed' fast, but that is not the case. Then I started blowing fuses for my signals.WTF could I have done I woundered.I put the origanl bulbs back in,no go,kept blowing fuses but only when the left signal was turned on.When I would put the right signal on the signals would not flash but the tail light would and the headlight would dim, this has got me.One other thing I did was over the winter I installed a few more led's,I had some on there for years all I did was add a couple more. They were wired to a assesory plug located under the tank. They still work fine but at this point I really dont care,oh yea,I disconected them and the problem persists.Has this signal thing happened to anyone else?Any ideas?

Check your battery. The battery just being a little low does some funky stuff to our bikes. Ask me how I know. Actually, pleasr don't.

Check the bulb sockets.. sounds like the ground tab may be folded in on the contacts.

Battery has been on a tender all winter,it is eight years old.Have been waiting for this day.Reads 12.4 volts.Did look at all the grnd. tabs, was worried one of the conectors might have been touching the inside of the signalbut thats taken care of.Will be back at it tonight. Will post any further developments or fires.

Marty,
The only way for the tail light to flash when you have the turn signal on is if the wires are crossed or pinched. Is it possible that the wires were pinched when you removed/installed something? Headlight bucket? Fuel tank mount? Rear fender harness? Blah blah....
It appears the left signal side is grounded, blowing fuses and the right is feeding the taillight circuit. Check the small headlight running light to see if it flashes also since it is tied into the tail light.
One way to check a circuit that blows fuses is to install a plug in circuit breaker of the same capacity as the fuse. It will keep tripping until you find the grounded circuit (unplugging one item at a time). Saves on fuses.
