Exactly. And the problem basically was that the old Lucas wiring harrness(looms) were manufactured my stringing a number of wires together and then wraping a cloth mesh around them and then applying a varnish-like liquid onto that, which over time would dry and harden and become brittle throughout, and would then cause electrical failures because of the internal metal wiring contacting each other.

(...which is exactly what happened to my 1966 BSA Lightning's wiring loom around 1970 and when the "smoke escaped from it", and which I subsequently had rewired using SAE standard wires by a little shop specializing in Britbikes in the town I lived in back then)
